Jason Gregg Stein, age 46, passed away Thursday, August 20th from complications of COVID-19. Born May 21st, 1974. Jason grew up in Queens, NY and later moved to Florida. He attended Tallahassee Community College, to play baseball, and Florida State University. After graduating from Florida State in 1997, Jason became engaged and married to his beautiful wife, Michele Stein, in 1998 and had two beautiful daughters, Ilana, 20 and Hailey, 15. Jason was employed as a teacher, coach, and athletic director at J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs for over 17 years and was seen as the face of the school. Coach Stein, as everyone knew him, loved baseball was even named Sun Sentinel’s Broward County Large-Schools Coach of the Year in 2008 and won several district baseball titles as the Trojan baseball coach. He was an avid sports fan and loved the New York Yankees, The Jets, and the Knicks. He was one who was known for being the kind of guy to “give you the shirt off his back” and someone who was always lending a helping hand to anyone that needed it.
